OTHER THINGS I TRIED

MY SMOKING STORY AND HOW I QUIT

I QUIT AFTER SMOKING FOR 47 YEARS. THAT WAS IN 2007!

I smoked my first cigarette at 10 years old. It was considered "cool" back then. One of my friends convinced me to "just try it".

I thought I'd never quit coughing!

Little did I Know that the coughing was because my body did not like the strange new chemicals I had just put into it.

Information on lung cancer wasn't readily known then and I think the tobacco was more pure at that time.

I Tried over the years to quit but was unsuccessful each and every time...until January 2007.

So what changed? I decided to test something I had learned while in the service. While in the Navy, I could record my school notes to a tape recorder, and then listen to them when I went to bed, letting the tape run, even after I fell asleep. The tape would finally run out and shut off. This helped me get through some very technical schooling over the years. Somehow, the information was planted into my memory and could be recalled when needed. I wondered if something similar could be used to help me quit smoking, so I decided to experiment.

I had tried to quit smoking using every technique I could think of. This was the last try. I had used nicorette gum and it worked but upset my stomach. I tried the patch but was in danger of having a heart attack, because I would cheat while wearing the patch. I tried the pill but it did nothing for me. Cold turkey was a joke.

I thought, maybe by recording every negative smoking fact I can think of, and by listening to it over and over again for several days, maybe I can teach my body to forget about smoking cigarettes. I wasn't sure it would work but it cost me nothing so I gave it a shot. I made a commitment to myself to listen to the tape recording as much as possible for two days and then evaluate the results.

It Worked! I didn't have to listen to the tape for two or three days as anticipated. It only took one 11 hour day. 11 hours is not a magic number, I just happened to be working 11 hours at the time.

The following day I had no desire to smoke. I still had a pack of cigarettes and a lighter in the car , but eventually threw them away. It was like I had never smoked in the first place.

I was so amazed, I decided to test the waters. I began to stand close to others that were smoking to see what would happen. I had no cravings, instead the smoke simply turned my stomach. I got a cigarette from my brother and lit it up but after 2 drags, I was ready to spit because of the terrible taste.

The ultimate test was to take my mother to bingo. Those bingo halls are full of smoke. Once again, the smoke only turned my stomach and I couldn't believe how much my clothes and hair smelled like an ashtray. I had no cravings at all. In the years since 2007 I have had plenty of stressful moments. In the past, stress was an excuse to smoke another cigarette. NOT NOW! The thought never even enters my mind. Except for passing this information on to others, I never think about cigarettes anymore.

I'm not nieve enough to think that this system will work for everbody, but I do think it will work for some. One thing is for sure...If you don't try it, you'll never know if it would have worked for you. I consider myself to be a pretty average person, so the experiences I have, are usually experienced by the average person. That means that there is a ton of people out there that can benefit from this just as I did. Please make a commitment and give it a try. You have to listen to the recording more than one time to get any results. I could never have pulled this off by myself. God definitely did all the work. I was just the recepticle. Pray that God will help you become a non-smoker and He will answer your prayers. Thank You Lord!
